Bunga Raya Malaysian Buffet Restaurant

Posted on July 15th, 2011 in All-You-Can-Eat-Buffets by Stephanie

Last Sunday I went to Bunga Raya Malaysian restaurant in Surrey to try out their Sunday lunch buffet for the first time. I had heard good reviews about the restaurant but I wasn’t really expecting much due to the fact that most of the Malaysian food in the restaurants in London can’t even compare to the real thing but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the choice of dishes available. The buffet menu changes every two weeks and last week we had laksa, chicken satay, wonton noodles, curry puffs and fried yam cake to name a few. We were the first group in the restaurant and arrived at 12.15pm (the restaurant opens at 12 but the buffet starts at 12.30) so we were lucky to get first pick from the buffet. The dishes were all fresh and mouthwateringly tasty especially the yam cake and although I’m not a big fan of laksa (noodles in a spicy coconut broth), I actually really enjoyed it and it was probably one of the best laksas’ I’ve had! The desserts were a bit disappointing though – the nonya kueh was a little hard and the mango and tapioca soup was too starchy but I’ve heard that other desserts on their menu are much better.

Bunga Raya Malaysian Restaurant Food

Bunga Raya is probably one of the best Malaysian restaurants in and around London and definately has the best Malaysian buffet (believe me, I’ve tried them all!). They have a dinner buffet on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and their Sunday lunch buffet is only £9.95 and £4.95 for children under 10. Children under 4 eat free!
