Search Engine Optimization Technique - Get Backlinks

Posted on August 12th, 2007 in Search Engine Optimization, Drive Traffic To Your Blog by Stephanie

A key search engine optimization technique is to generate as many backlinks as you can to your website.  Links to your website are the single most important factor in search engine ranking.  If you have a lot of backlinks, then search engines will think that your blog is important since other websites are linking to you so it will therefore rank you higher.  However the type of link is an important factor.  An ideal link should:

  • come from a relevant website (ones that are similar to yours and have the same keywords)
  • come from a website with a high page rank
  • come from a page that links to few other websites
  • include your keyword as part of the link text
  • include varying link text (not the same link text each time)

Getting a link which includes all the above points can be difficult but as long as you have most of them then a search engine will see your site as being credible and this should help your page rank!

Search Engine Optimization - Definition

Posted on August 11th, 2007 in Search Engine Optimization, Drive Traffic To Your Blog by Stephanie

It has been exactly 1 month since I started this blog and search engine optimization is something that I have had to consider at the same time.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term search engine optimization, here is a simple definition:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)  is the process of improving the amount of traffic to a website from search engines.

75% of searchers do not go past the first page of a Google search, therefore the higher the website ranks in the search results, the more searchers will visit the site.  This means that I will have to use search engine optimization techniques in order to rank highly for keywords related to my blog and so people will be able to find my blog and therefore increase traffic to it.

Over the coming weeks, months and years even (it is a big topic!) I will be posting tips and techniques for search engine optimization so keep posted! :-)

How To Get Hundreds Of Backlinks Using The D-List

Posted on August 8th, 2007 in Search Engine Optimization, Drive Traffic To Your Blog by Stephanie

A couple of days ago I wrote about using the Do Follow Plugin and how it can be used to give backlinks to your readers who comment on your posts.  Well I have come across something called the D-List which is a list of blogs that use the Do Follow Plugin so if you leave a comment on their blog you will get a backlink which will therefore help in increasing your page rank with Google.

So here’s the D-List (but please do not leave spam comments):

Give Backlinks To Your Readers - Use The Do Follow Plugin

Posted on August 6th, 2007 in Drive Traffic To Your Blog by Stephanie

A lot of bloggers like to comment on other blogs in order to increase backlinks.  However, when you leave a comment on a WordPress or Blogger blog, a “no follow” tag is automatically inserted.  A “no follow” tag makes links invalid with Google and Technorati and will not improve your ranking with them.  Below is an example of html code for a link that “does follow” and is valid with Google and Technorati:

Do Follow

And this is the code with the “no follow” tag:

No Follow

So if you want to give something back to your invaluable readers who comment on your posts, then give them a backlink by using a plugin called Do Follow which you can get from here.  The Do Follow plugin removes the “nofollow” code from the comment links.  It is easy to install - all you need to do is download the plugin’s zip file and upload it into your plugin folder and then activate it in your plugins administration area.  So show a little link love and use the Do Follow Plugin!  I have activated mine so feel free to comment :-)

Drive Traffic To Your Blog - Join This Link Chain

Posted on July 28th, 2007 in Drive Traffic To Your Blog by Stephanie

Everyone wants to drive traffic to their blog and there many ways in which to do so.  Whether it’s through leaving comments on other people’s blog, getting a post dugg, interacting with fellow MyBlogLog members etc. etc.  It has been nearly 3 weeks since I started this blog and numbers of visitors are slowly but surely increasing.  I came across a post today on one of my visitor’s blogs (Enkay Blog - 1st blog on the list below) and he is starting his own link chain to try to get as many link backs as possible and to hopefully increase his page rank.  So here is his link chain if you would like to join and also try to increase your google page rank:

** Start Copy Here **

We all know how important getting link backs is and with this chain, you can get the ball rolling! You don’t have to be an established blogger to take part in this chain. Here are the rules:
1. Copy this post from the point where it says “Start Copy Here” to the point where it says “End Copy Here”
2. Add yourself and 5 of your favorite bloggers to the end of the list.
3. Post this on your blog

Enkay Blog | Ms. Danielle | Cash For Comments | BetShopBoy | JohnCow | Mr. Gary Lee | Jon Lee | Dosh Dosh | Some Make Money | The King Kong Blog | RomanDock | Michael Kwan | Ed Lau | Jane May | Sam Breadstone | Windows Tips, Tricks and Hacks | ProBlogger | The Beef Jerky Blog | The Prize Blog | Online Coupon Codes | Jamaipanese | Rugjeff | ShadowScope | The News Press Net | JohnWaraas | Life Is Colorful | A Touch of Sweetness | That Says It All | Bama 365 | Bohemian Bloggers | The Sassy Southerner | Protocol In Practice | TJ’s Anti Contrarian | Londoner Life Dot Com - Life In London With Stephanie Law| John Chow| 5xmom|LunchInABox|WorldOfAngel|TomLedree|Daily Webbers|Life Of Socrates

**End Copy Here**

Well that’s all there is to it.  Once Enkay gets a ping back from your blog, he will also add you to his list.

Feel free to leave me a comment to let me know if you decide to join this link chain or if you notice an influx of visitors suddenly to your blog.
