You can get 1 day, 2 day, 3 day and 6 day passes and it allows you to enter as many of the 55 attractions included on the pass as you want.  It is a great way to see London at a small price and is ideal for visitors and even Londoners!  For more information and to purchase the London Pass online, you can visit the London Pass website.

Watch Your Favourite Television Shows As Part Of The Audience! For Free!

Posted on January 17th, 2008 in Cheap Days Out In London, Freebies by Stephanie

If you’re feeling a bit broke then why not get up close and personal with the stars and see a television show as part of the audience.  It is completely free and you will get to see what really goes on behind the scenes as well.  Tickets can be booked at Applause Store and you can reserve as many as you want but it is first come first served so make sure you book your tickets early.  Applause Store always have a good line up of shows such as ”The Brit Awards”, “Big Brother”, “X-Factor” and many more and you sometimes even get free nibbles before the show!  I went to see “Fight Box” a couple of years ago which was a game show on BBC2 presented by Trevor Nielson and I managed to get his autograph (not that I’m a fan but thought it may come in useful for selling on ebay one day :-) ) Applause Store is currently only for UK residents (mostly in London studios) but I believe they will be launching a US site soon.

Get 2 For 1 Entry To Hundreds Of London Attractions

Posted on October 11th, 2007 in Cheap Days Out In London, Money Saving Tips by Stephanie

If you are planning a trip to London or just a day out in the city and you are travelling here by train, DaysOutGuide have printable vouchers on their website that allow you 2 for 1 entry into hundreds of major attractions including Madame Tussauds, Dali Universe, Vinopolis, Cruises on the Thames as well as for restaurants, hotels and hit West End shows such as Blood Brothers, Chicago, Footloose and We Will Rock You (my personal favourite!).  Once you have printed out the voucher, you just need to hand it into the atttraction’s box office and show your train ticket to get the discount!  Even if you live in London and normally take the tube, you can always just purchase a cheap train ticket from one of the railway stations in London (eg. a train ticket from Ealing Broadway to Paddington on the First Great Western trains is £2.60) so even if you don’t use the ticket, it is a minimal amount spent which could save you a lot of money on entrance to an attraction.  Currently it costs £22.50 for an adult entry to Madame Tussauds so purchasing a £2.60 train ticket would save you nearly £20!  And you could save even more if you are using vouchers for theatre and hotels!

Cheap Cinema Tickets

Posted on July 26th, 2007 in Cheap Days Out In London, Money Saving Tips, Freebies by Stephanie

London doesn’t need to be an expensive place for those in the know.  I will be giving tips over the many weeks to come on how to save when going out in London.  In my Toptable post, I showed you how to save money when dining out, well there is loads of money to be saved when going to the cinema too.  Vue cinema offers standby cinema vouchers for £4.25 plus 50 pence booking fee on Mondays to Thursdays from lastminute.com.  A standby cinema voucher can be used to see the latest movies in any Vue cinema in London which means that you can even go to the West End Vue in Leicester Square for £4.75 where tickets are normally £11.75!  So that’s a saving of £7!!

Another cheap cinema ticket offer which those with an Orange mobile are probably already using is “Orange Wednesday”.  Every Wednesday you can buy 2 cinema tickets for the price of 1 at practically all cinemas in the UK by texting “film” to 241 from your orange mobile and you will then receive a text message with the 2 for 1 voucher that you can use at the cinema!  Orange broadband and dial up customers can also use this offer - there is more information on this at the Orange website.  To get a free Orange sim card sent to you, you can order one from here.

A lot of movies have free screenings before they are actually released in cinemas (I used to attend nearly 1 a month but the number of free screenings has decreased over the years) so I will keep my eyes peeled and let you all know if I find any free screenings.  Feel free to leave a comment if you find a free screening too…

Toptable

Posted on July 22nd, 2007 in Cheap Days Out In London, Money Saving Tips, Freebies by Stephanie

I have just made a dinner reservation for next week through Toptable and thought that I should write a post to let you all know how to save money eating out in London by using Toptable.  Toptable is a website that allows you to make reservations at hundreds of different restaurants around London as well as the rest of the UK and some other countries.  It always has 2 for 1, 50% off the bill and plenty of other offers available for different restaurants so you could potentially save a lot of money eating out!  I visited a malaysian restaurant called Awana recently and saved around £30 on a meal for 2 using their 50% off offer!

Also, every time you make a booking through toptable you are awarded 200 points if you rate the restaurant (nothing too time consuming, just giving a mark out of 10 for food, service, ambience, etc.) after dining there.  Once you have collected 1400 points you can get a free 2 or 3 course meal at certain restaurants!  You also get 200 points for registering with them so you only really have to dine out 6 times and then you will have enough for a free meal.  You can also collect more points to get free meals in better restaurants.  Toptable sometimes have double points months where you can get 400 points per booking and if you organise a lot of big group dinners you can get around 600 - 1400 points depending on the group size and even complimentary dinners for 2.

So if you eat out a lot I would really recommend booking through them especially if you are a regular diner at some of the restaurants on Toptable as you will be able to collect points as well as save money if there is an offer.  It’s also a really good way of discovering new restaurants and trying out different types of food.  So top marks to Toptable!!
