Green Tea And Red Bean Cake

Posted on October 5th, 2007 in Green Tea London by Stephanie

One of my favourite green tea foods from London is the green tea and adzuki (red bean) cake from the Japan Centre supermarket in Piccadilly, which they have recently started selling.  The sponge has a mild green tea flavour and a very light texture (it is probably steamed) and red bean paste is rolled into the sponge so it is a bit like a green tea red bean swiss roll.  The red bean paste is not too sweet (as it can be in some japanese cakes/sweets) but has a buttery sweet taste which complements the sponge well.  So if you are in the area I would highly recommend trying it!

it looks strange and gross and maybe even fungus, but i think you guys are being a bit disrespectful to other culture’s foods just cause you guys aren’t accustomed to things out of your own comfort.

cause when i look at this dessert, my mouth waters.

One of my wife and I’s favorite thing about London is all the wonderful tea shops with their scrumptious pastries. Thanks for posting this, and for such a great site in general!

It also helps to slow release of carbohydrates in the body, preventing blood sugar levels of growth, and that in turn causes the body to burn fat.

I love azuki and green tea combination. It’s a classic Japanese favorite!
