Mrs Kibble’s Olde Sweet Shoppe

Posted on November 30th, 2007 in Places To Visit by Stephanie

If you have a sweet tooth like me, then you will be pleased to hear that I came across a little old fashioned sweet shop today in Soho.  Mrs Kibble’s Olde Sweet Shoppe sells all your childhood favourites - cola cubes, lemon bonbons, candy necklaces, rosy apples, dib dabs… you name it!  After spending quite a while looking at everything they had to offer (I’m an indecisive Librian), I ended up buying some coconut ice and pistachio turkish delight.  Was disappointed to find out that they didn’t have any chocolate lollies though (the boiled sweet kind) but after searching the net have found an online retailer A Quarter Of which stocks them!  :-)

Mrs Kibble’s Olde Sweet Shoppe Address: 57a Brewer Street, London W1F 9UL
Opening Times: 11am - 6pm (Mon - Thurs), 11am - 7pm (Fri, Sat) 11am - 4pm (Sun)

I love the nostalgia and feel..not to mention the taste of these little candy shops. Don’t see many of these around so the ones that are left standing have great products

I love this shop. I go whenever I’m in London and if I have friends that are visiting London I get them to go for me and bring me some rhubarb custards. It’s a great shop.

This place is definitely awesome. Wall to wall jars of fudge, toffee, marzipan fruits and my favorite — sugar mice! I’m glad you found an online retailer, I’m going to have to make a purchase…

I haven’t seen a shop like this for years, there used to be one round the corner from me in Southampton, always used to get sweets on my way to school with my dinner money, god I miss them!!

I like Ras Gulla or Rassgula is the most popular dessert from Orissa and Bengal (INDIA). The sweets are balls made of unripened cheese or cottage cheese soaked in sugar syrup.
