Zipangu
Zipangu is a little Japanese restaurant in Chinatown that I haven’t visited since I was a student but decided to pop in there to get a quick bite last Saturday night. Their menu consists of mainly sushi, sashimi, noodles and donburi (meat/seafood/vegetables on rice). I had a katsu don (deep-fried breaded pork cutlets, onion, and egg in a sweet sauce on rice) and my friend had a kimchi ramen (noodles in a spicy soup with kimchi (spicy seasoned vegetables) and pork). The kimchi ramen is basically like instant noodles that you would get in a japanese or korean supermarket but the katsu don was very authentic. The pork was a little fatty but it was not oily and the sauce on the rice was very tasty. It is extremely good value for money and only cost £10.60 for the two of us with a free flow of green tea. The restaurant is very small and a bit cramped but the service is friendly and efficient so it is a great place to get a quick and cheap bite.
